Services
Integrate. Regulate. Elevate.
At Upstate Integrative Mind Counseling, we provide specialized, integrative therapy for individuals seeking support with trauma, dissociation, emotional dysregulation, and overcontrol. Our services are designed to meet clients where they are, offering both stabilization and deeper therapeutic work through evidence-based, compassionate care.
We understand that healing is not one-size-fits-all. Some clients need support building safety and coping skills first, while others are ready to process painful experiences more directly. Our goal is to provide thoughtful treatment that helps clients move toward greater stability, resilience, and connection.
Trauma Therapy
Trauma can affect the mind, body, relationships, and sense of self long after painful experiences have ended. It may contribute to ongoing distress, disconnection, and patterns of nervous system activation that continue to shape how a person feels, relates, and responds to the world. Trauma can also create a more divided internal experience, where different parts of the self carry different emotions, needs, or protective responses. Our approach integrates Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), EMDR, and the Structural Dissociation model to help clients make sense of these experiences, build greater grounding and internal stability, process unresolved trauma, and move toward healing with care, depth, and intention.
Emotional Overcontrol, Dysregulation
Emotional dysregulation and emotional overcontrol can look very different externally, yet both can create profound distress, disconnection, and patterns that feel difficult to change. Emotional dysregulation may involve intense emotional shifts, impulsive reactions, and difficulty returning to a sense of steadiness. Emotional overcontrol often presents more quietly through perfectionism, rigidity, emotional inhibition, excessive self-restraint, or difficulty expressing vulnerability and connecting openly with others.
At the root, these patterns are often shaped by longstanding schemas, coping styles, and relational strategies that once served a purpose but no longer support the life or relationships a person wants to create. Treatment is designed to help clients understand these deeper patterns with greater clarity and compassion while building the skills and flexibility needed for change. Integrating Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Radically Open DBT, we support clients in strengthening emotional regulation, distress tolerance, openness, and connection so they can move toward a more balanced, authentic, and meaningful way of living.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a specialized, integrative approach designed to support individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, or patterns that have not fully responded to traditional treatment. KAP combines psychotherapy with carefully administered ketamine in a structured, supportive setting to help reduce symptoms, increase flexibility, and create space for new perspectives and emotional processing. This work is supported by thoughtful preparation and integration, allowing clients to make sense of their experiences and translate insight into meaningful change. Our approach is intentional, grounded, and paced to support healing in a way that feels safe, supported, and manageable.
