Faith and Questions: Peer Support Group in Greenville, SC

Faith & Questions: A Peer Support Group for Faith, Spirituality, and Life's Bigger Questions

A Welcoming Community for Exploring Faith, Finding Connection, and Navigating Life's Questions

Faith can be one of the most meaningful parts of our lives.

It can provide hope during difficult seasons, comfort during uncertainty, strength during adversity, and connection to something greater than ourselves.

For many individuals, faith is also deeply connected to family, community, traditions, and personal identity.

But even when faith is an important source of strength, life can bring questions.

Sometimes we wonder how our beliefs fit with our experiences.

Sometimes we encounter challenges that cause us to reflect more deeply on what we believe.

Sometimes we find ourselves navigating differences in perspectives, changes in relationships, or questions about purpose and meaning.

And sometimes, we simply want a place where we can talk openly about faith and life's challenges with others who are willing to listen.

Having questions doesn't mean you lack faith. Sometimes, asking questions is part of growing in understanding.

At Upstate Integrative Mind Counseling, our Faith & Questions Peer Support Group offers a welcoming space for individuals to share experiences, explore meaningful questions, and connect with others who value thoughtful conversation, mutual respect, and community.

You don't have to have everything figured out to find belonging.

What Is the Faith & Questions Peer Support Group?

Faith & Questions is a therapist-facilitated peer support group that brings individuals together to explore faith, spirituality, personal beliefs, and the questions that arise throughout life's journey.

This group recognizes that faith and spirituality are deeply personal experiences.

Some participants may have a strong and longstanding Christian faith and simply enjoy discussing meaningful questions with others.

Others may be navigating difficult seasons that have challenged their understanding of faith, relationships, or personal beliefs.

Some may be reconnecting with their spiritual lives, exploring their relationship with God, or reflecting on how faith fits into their current circumstances.

Others may be uncertain about what they believe and interested in learning from different perspectives.

Faith & Questions is not about changing anyone's beliefs. It is about creating opportunities for connection, understanding, and thoughtful reflection.

Our goal is to foster a community where individuals can share their experiences while respecting the beliefs and values of others.

Who Is This Group For?

Faith & Questions welcomes individuals who:

  • Value their faith and enjoy meaningful conversations about spirituality and life.

  • Have questions about faith, religion, or personal beliefs.

  • Are navigating life experiences that have influenced their spiritual journey.

  • Want to explore the relationship between faith, personal values, and everyday life.

  • Are experiencing uncertainty or seeking greater understanding.

  • Want to connect with others who appreciate respectful discussions about spiritual topics.

  • Are interested in hearing different perspectives while remaining grounded in their own beliefs.

  • Are looking for encouragement, connection, and community.

Participants do not need to belong to a particular church or religious denomination.

Individuals from different faith backgrounds, as well as those who are exploring their beliefs, are welcome.

Why Is It Important to Have Conversations About Faith?

Faith often plays an important role in how we understand ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us.

It can shape our values, influence our decisions, and provide guidance during challenging circumstances.

At the same time, life experiences can raise questions that deserve thoughtful consideration.

For example:

Faith During Difficult Seasons: How do we draw on faith when life feels uncertain, painful, or overwhelming?

Questions and Spiritual Growth: Can asking difficult questions help us develop a deeper understanding of our beliefs?

Faith and Relationships: How do we navigate differences in beliefs while maintaining meaningful connections with family, friends, and community?

Finding Meaning and Purpose: How do our spiritual beliefs and personal values influence the way we live?

Belonging and Community: How can we maintain meaningful connections while navigating changes in our lives or perspectives?

Faith and Emotional Well-Being: How can spiritual practices, supportive relationships, and personal reflection contribute to resilience?

These are deeply human questions, and there is value in having opportunities to explore them with others.

What Happens in Faith & Questions?

Faith & Questions is a conversation-based peer support group that encourages participants to share experiences, listen to one another, and reflect on meaningful topics.

Life Transitions and Spiritual Growth

Reflecting on how experiences such as loss, change, parenthood, aging, and personal growth may influence our spiritual journeys.

Meaning, Purpose, and Personal Values

Respecting Different Perspectives

Learning how to engage in meaningful conversations with people who may have different experiences or interpretations while maintaining compassion and respect.

Participants are welcome to share their thoughts, ask questions, or simply listen.

There is no expectation that everyone will agree or arrive at the same conclusions.

What Makes Faith & Questions Different?

Faith & Questions is a peer support group rather than a formal religious education program, Bible study, or psychotherapy group.

We recognize that churches, faith communities, and spiritual leaders provide valuable opportunities for worship, religious education, fellowship, and spiritual guidance.

Faith & Questions is designed to complement these important sources of community by offering an additional space for shared experiences and supportive conversation.

Our group is facilitated by a mental health professional who helps encourage respectful dialogue, healthy communication, and meaningful interpersonal connection.

The group emphasizes:

Faith and Respect: Honoring the importance of faith and spirituality in people's lives.

Curiosity and Understanding: Welcoming thoughtful questions and opportunities to learn from others.

Connection and Community: Building relationships through shared experiences and mutual encouragement.

Compassion and Acceptance: Respecting individuals whose experiences or beliefs may differ from our own.

Personal Reflection: Encouraging participants to consider their values, beliefs, and experiences without pressure to adopt a particular perspective.

Our purpose is not to persuade participants toward or away from any religious belief.

Instead, we hope to create an environment where meaningful conversations can occur with kindness, curiosity, and respect.

The Importance of Community in Our Spiritual Journeys

Faith and spirituality are often strengthened through connection.

Throughout our lives, we may turn to family members, friends, church communities, spiritual leaders, and other trusted individuals for encouragement and guidance.

Peer support offers another opportunity to experience the value of meaningful relationships.

Sometimes hearing another person's story reminds us that we are not alone in our questions or experiences.

Sometimes a different perspective helps us reflect more deeply on our own beliefs.

And sometimes, simply having a place to share what is on our hearts can provide comfort and encouragement.

We don't have to share identical experiences or perspectives to offer one another kindness, understanding, and connection.

What Can You Expect From the Group?

Faith & Questions is designed to be welcoming, conversational, and supportive.

Participants can expect:

  • A respectful environment for discussing faith, spirituality, and personal experiences.

  • Opportunities to connect with others through meaningful conversations.

  • Encouragement to share experiences without pressure or judgment.

  • Respect for Christian traditions and other religious or spiritual perspectives.

  • Therapist facilitation focused on maintaining a supportive group environment.

  • Opportunities for reflection, encouragement, and community connection.

  • Group expectations that emphasize privacy, kindness, and mutual respect.

Participants are encouraged to respect one another's privacy. As with other peer support groups, confidentiality among participants is encouraged but cannot be guaranteed.

Faith & Questions is not intended to replace involvement in a church, religious community, spiritual mentorship, or individualized mental health treatment.

Come With Your Faith. Come With Your Questions.

Faith is not always a journey with simple answers.

It can involve seasons of certainty, seasons of reflection, moments of hope, and experiences that invite us to consider life from new perspectives.

Wherever you are in that journey, meaningful connection can make a difference.

At Upstate Integrative Mind Counseling, we believe that individuals benefit from having spaces where they can share their experiences, explore important questions, and build supportive relationships.

Faith & Questions is a place where faith is respected, questions are welcomed, and community is encouraged.

Come as you are.

Bring your faith.

Bring your questions.

And discover the value of meaningful conversation and connection.
